MNI BRIEF: EU's Tusk- States To Consult Wed On Tariff Response

European Union member states will discuss a response to U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminium on Wednesday, Polish prime minister and EU presidency holder Donald Tusk said on Tuesday.

While the Commission can make trade policy decisions on its own, Tusk said the significance of the U.S.-EU relationship meant it was important that consultations among member states took place ahead of any response, which would be "appropriate, balanced and free from unnecessary emotions."
