LNG: Asian LNG Prices Fell This Week: Reuters

Mar-14 13:07

Asian spot LNG prices slipped this week to a three-month low, as tepid APAC demand persists and Europe continues to attract Atlantic basin cargoes, Reuters said.

  • The average April LNG delivery price to Asia was $13.40/MMBtu, while the price for May was $13.20/MMBtu.
  • Japanese demand has been muted, with some Japanese utilities selling cargoes rather than buying, according to Argus, cited by Reuters. He added that utilities have robust stockpiles despite recent cold snaps.
  • South Korean demand has started to climb as buyers procure to refill inventories post a late-winter cold snap, Reuters added.
  • Asian LNG demand remains weak, with March imports expected to end at similar levels to February, Reuters added.

BONDS: MNI Europe Pi: Long Reduction / Short Setting Continues

Feb-12 12:46

We've just published our latest Europe Pi positioning analysis - PDF: MNI-PI12022025.pdf

  • Structural positioning across most European futures contracts remains relatively flat, with most looking similar to our last full Europe Pi update on Jan 28. Again, this contrasts with longer-leaning positioning at the very end of 2024.
  • BTP and OAT stand out for being long and short, respectively, with Buxl (short) the lone German contract not in flat territory.
  • We continue to see longs reduced and shorts set across contracts, including over the most recent week of trade.
