Eskom (ESKOM; B2/Bpos/B)
Loadshedding over, neutral for spreads
• Co. reported that it has suspended load shedding as of 6am Sunday as co. replenished open-cycle gas turbines and repaired five coal fired generation units adding 2930 MW to the grid. An additional 2391MW is expected to be added today 2nd Feb 25.
• Co. saved R16.30bn in diesel costs from 1st Apr 24 to Jan 30th 25, significantly improving cash flow generation. Eskom’s available capacity is 27 957MW and evening peak demand is 24 456MW.
• As we expected on Friday the loadshedding was temporary, and the impact from the weekend should be minimal to profitability and cash flow generation assuming this is a one off.
