Hafslund Celsio has signed an agreement with the buyer group Frontier to sell carbon removal from the Oslo CCS project, marking an important step for the project’s FID, it said.
- Under the agreement, the companies in Frontier will pay $31.6mn for a total of 100,000 tonnes of carbon removal between 2029 and 2030.
- The firm’s included in the agreement are Stripe, Google, JPMorgan Chase and others.
- This marks the first known agreement for carbon removal from waste to energy facility.
- The Oslo CCS project will capture up to 400 000 tonnes of CO2/yr once operational in 2026.
