Meanwhile, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula reportedly drew the ire of fellow party leaders after it emerged that he formed a secret team to run parallel budget negotiations with the Democratic Alliance (DA). According to the Sunday Times, senior ANC officials accused Mbalula of undermining the party's official negotiating team, while another reason for their anger was the fact that DA officials were led to believe that Mbalula's team represented the Presidency.
