MNI BRIEF: No Return To Below-Target Inflation - De Guindos

Inflation is unlikely to return to the below-target levels seen in the years between the Global Financial Crisis and the pandemic, ECB Vice President Luis de Guindos told an MNI Connect livestreamed event on Wednesday.

"A personal view, I don't think inflation will fall back consistently to levels around 1%, certainly not in the remainder of my term as Vice President," De Guindos said. (See MNI INTERVIEW: Eurozone Wage Growth Heads For ECB Comfort Zone)
 

His eight-year term is due to end on June 1, 2026.
