POLAND: NBP's Maslowska Says 25bp Apr Cut Possible if CPI Soft

Apr-23 13:32

Speaking in an interview with Bloomber, MPC member Gabriela Maslowska said the NBP may reduce its benchmark interest rate by 25bps next month if April’s inflation readout stays soft. Maslowska’s stance has changed since March when she envisaged rate cuts only late in 2025 or early next year, Bloomberg add.

  • “The improving inflation outlook is in favor of initiating discussions on monetary easing,” Maslowska told Bloomberg News. “It can’t be ruled out that interest rates will be cut in May. The CPI reading for April and especially the July projection will be crucial for the decision to cut interest rates in the coming months.”
