POWER: Outokumpu Completes SMR Study, Seeks Investors for Tornio Project

Finnish Outokumpu has completed a feasibility study confirming the viability of building an SMR near its Tornio stainless steel plant, with the firm seeking external investors to take over and develop the project, it said.
- Energy costs make up 10% of Outokumpu’s expenses, and it is Finland’s largest electricity purchaser.
- Additionally, the firm prefers to act as an energy off-taker, ensuring a stable electricity supply for industrial electrification and carbon capture initiatives.
