• The City of Buenos Aires will have legislature seats up for grabs in the May 18, 2025 elections. Results will have important ramifications for the October national legislature elections.
• The Propuesta Republicana (PRO) has dominated the City’s leadership since 2007 and is led by former President Mauricio Macri who was also head of the City government in 2007. The current head of the City is Jorge Macri, a cousin of the former president.
• President Milei and his party La Libertad Avanza hope to unite the Right against the opposition so success in gaining seats in the local legislature could be a leading indicator for success in the October mid-terms.
