China’s government-controlled Zhejiang Energy Group received its first LNG cargo at its new 3m mtpa Wenzhou LNG terminal in Wenzhou city on 7 August according to S&P Global Commodity Insights.

  • The initial delivery was a 68k mt cargo arriving from Indonesia and supplied by PetroChina, marking the start of operations at the terminal.
  • This is the second LNG terminal to begin operations in 2023, and the 26th LNG terminal in China.
  • The start-up of the Wenzhou LNG terminal was delayed due to government formalities and typhoons, a company official said. Operation at the Wenzhou LNG terminal were originally intended to begin in early July.
