A BBG source report notes that “Northwestern University Professor Janice Eberly is the frontrunner in the White House search for a successor to Lael Brainard as vice chair of the Federal Reserve. Eberly, who served as chief economist at the Treasury Department under President Barack Obama, has emerged quickly as a candidate in the weeks since Brainard was picked as President Joe Biden’s top economic aide.”
- BBG note that Eberly has met with both Biden’s chief of staff Jeff Zients and U.S. Tsy Secretary Janet Yellen.
- The piece went on to suggest that Eberly would be the more dovish of the two perceived top candidates for the role (with Harvard professor Karen Dynan seen as a more hawkish candidate), likening her to Brainard in her views.
