India’s GAIL will receive four LNG cargoes each in May and June from Germany’s SEFE, formerly known as Gazprom Marketing and Trading, GAIL chairman, Sandeep Kumar Gupta said.
- SEFE has resumed full LNG supplies under its term contract, after supplies stopped in mid-2022 from the former Gazprom unit, Gupta said.
- GAIL received two LNG cargoes each in March and April.
- Gupta expects to see a 6-7% growth in Indian gas demand in the financial year ending in March 2024.
- LNG buyers in India have been looking for long-term gas supply deals to reduce the impact of spot price volatility and to support the government’s plans to boost natural gas use.
