The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has said that it has uncovered an illegal oil connection from Forcados Terminal that operated for nine years.

  • Group Managing Director Mallam Mele Kyari,said the illegal oil connection line was detected during a clampdown in the past six weeks.
  • "Oil theft in the country has been going on for over 22 years but the dimension and rate it assumed in recent times is unprecedented," Kyari added.
  • Nigeria will need higher investments and tighter security to help revied production from the Niger Delta according to Oando CEO on Wednesday.
  • Nigeria production levels have fallen from approximately 1.9mbpd in early 2020 down to just over 1.1mbpd. The OPEC production target for Nigeria is 1.826mbpd in October and 1.742mbpd in Nov and Dec.
