The causes of the production shutdown at Libya’s Sharara field remain unknown according to Austria’s OMV, joint venture partner for the field, speaking with Reuters.

• According to Bloomberg sources, production was completely halted on Monday after slowing through Sunday.
• The field was reported to be operating at ~270,000 bpd prior to the shutdown.
• The Lybian government called attempts to shut Sharara operations as "political blackmail".
