There has been considerable press focus on Trump's strong vote count in a number of key Florida counties, including Miami-Dade - a county Biden won comfortably in 2020.

• The results, if they hold, are largely in line with expectations, considering the red trend of the state, and could signal a demographic recalibration that may counterintutively boost Harris in the northern swing states.
• NYT chief pollster Nate Cohen noted in early October that Trump led Harris by 13 points in FL in a NYT/Siena College poll, an outlier result considering most pollsters at the time put Trump's lead around 4 points.  
• Cohen theorised that Trump's strong Florida number effectively shrunk Trump Electoral College advantage, meaning he would be less likely to run up disproportionately strong numbers in the Blue Wall states as he did in 2016 and 2020. 

• Cohen noted: "If the poll is right, Florida really has gone on a different path from Pennsylvania and Michigan."
